Meet Deborah
Founder & Principal Consultant
Deborah Harris, GPHR, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, is the Founder and Principal Consultant of Seven Consulting Group LLC, bringing more than 30 years of human resources, organizational leadership, and civil rights experience across nonprofit, government, and mission-driven organizations.
Throughout her career, Deborah has been trusted to lead through some of the most complex moments organizations and leaders face. Her experience includes organizational restructures and reductions in force, workplace investigations and mediation, labor and employee relations, organizational risk, executive coaching, talent acquisition, compensation, HR operations, compliance, leadership development, and organizational change.
Deborah has served at the executive level as a Chief People Officer and has led HR and people functions supporting geographically dispersed and global workforces. Her experience includes working with executives, boards, unions, managers, HR teams, and employees across different organizational environments and cultures. She brings particular expertise in helping organizations navigate the intersection of people, risk, leadership, and organizational effectiveness.
Her approach is practical and grounded in a simple belief: understanding the policy or HR practice is only part of the work. Leaders also need to understand the people involved, the organizational context, the risks created by action or inaction, and what implementation will require.
As an executive coach, Deborah works with senior leaders navigating transition, increased responsibility, performance challenges, difficult team dynamics, and other moments that require candid reflection and meaningful change. Her coaching creates space for leaders to understand how their leadership is experienced by others, gather perspectives they may not otherwise hear, and translate insight into more effective leadership.
An experienced facilitator and presenter, Deborah develops practical learning experiences for executives, managers, HR professionals, boards, employees, and organizational leaders on topics including workplace conflict, performance management, employee relations, anti-retaliation, organizational change, inclusive leadership, and effective people management.
Deborah holds the Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), and SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credentials. She is also a certified mediator, executive and DEI coach, and brings decades of experience developing leaders and strengthening organizations.
Through Seven Consulting Group, Deborah brings that experience to organizations that need more than a standard HR solution. She works with clients to understand what is happening, identify what matters, and determine a practical path forward.
